Practitioner Biography

Latane Flanagan is a Board-Certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner through the American Nurses Credentialing Center and is licensed to practice in Virginia. She earned her Master of Science in Nursing in 2025 from Old Dominion University. During her graduate studies, Latane was selected as an Advanced Nursing Education Workforce Scholar, graduated magna cum laude, and received both the Lettie P. Whitehead Nursing Scholarship and the Jordan and Carol Levitin Nursing Scholarship. She is currently pursuing her Doctor of Nursing Practice in Advanced Practice Nursing at Old Dominion University, with research focused on sleep and well-being.

A native of Central Virginia, Latane began her healthcare journey at Virginia Commonwealth University in 2005, gaining early clinical exposure as an extern in forensic pathology at the VA Hospital and working in maxillofacial surgery. She later graduated magna cum laude from nursing school in 2020 and, as a registered nurse, provided care to diverse inpatient populations at both Virginia Commonwealth University Health System and University of Virginia Health System.

Latane holds certifications in psychopharmacology from the Neuroscience Education Institute, Brainspotting psychotherapy, C-TIER telehealth, the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA), and the Triple P – Positive Parenting Program. Her clinical background spans both inpatient and outpatient care, including work in a substance use treatment clinic where she supported individuals and families navigating complex emotional and behavioral challenges.

She is an active member of the Neuroscience Education Institute, the American Psychiatric Nurses Association, Old Dominion University’s Community Care Partnership, and the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses. Her professional journey has been shaped by the mentorship of Dr. Stuart Flanagan, Professor Emeritus at The College of William & Mary.

Latane blends evidence-based practice with empathy and insight, delivering compassionate, high-quality care tailored to each individual. Outside of clinical work, she enjoys running, yoga, gardening, cooking, going to the beach, and attending sporting events. She deeply values the support of her family and friends and loves spending time with them. Latane believes in the healing power of play, laughter, and nature.
